American General Veteran To Lead AXA Equitable Life

AXA Financial Inc. has hired John Graf to be vice chairman of the company and president of the company's AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company unit.[@@]

Graf also will be president of the company's MONY Life Insurance Company unit, and he will join a new "office of the chief executive," according to AXA Financial, New York.

Christopher Condron, president and chief executive of AXA Financial, will keep those titles and also lead the office of the chief executive.

Graf previously was executive vice president of international retirement savings at American International Group Inc., New York. He was running the group retirement plan, annuity and retail investment businesses at American General Corp., Houston, when AIG acquired American General in 2001.

Graf also has worked in insurance and annuity marketing at Skokie Federal Savings and Loan, Skokie, Ill.

Graf has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Illinois.
