UnitedHealth To Acquire South Florida Carrier

UnitedHealth Group Inc. has agreed to acquire Neighborhood Health Partnership Inc., Miami.[@@]

NHP is a commercial health maintenance organization that provides health coverage for 135,000 residents of Broward, Dade and Palm Beach counties in South Florida.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but UnitedHealth, Minnetonka, Minn., says it hopes to close on the deal in about 90 days.

UnitedHealth says its South Florida managed care operation provides coverage for about 400,000 residents of Broward, Dade, Martin and Palm Beach counties.
