Only about half of U.S. adults are saving anything at all for retirement health care costs.[@@]

Researchers at Destiny Health, Oak Brook, Ill., have published that figure in a report on a recent survey of 1,020 U.S. adults.

Although 78% of the survey participants said they were saving money for day-to-day retirement expenses, just 54% said they were saving for retirement health care costs, and only 33% said they were saving for long term care expenses, Destiny says.

Participants who said they were saving for retirement expenses estimated that 17% of the savings will go to pay retirement health care costs.
