Computer Sciences Corp. has updated a widely used policy administration system in an effort to make the system more useful to product development teams.[@@]

CSC, El Segundo, Calif., says it has combined the CSC Vantage-One life insurance and annuity administration system with the CSC Visual Product Modeling System "external rules engine."

Developers can use the VP/MS system to define and change the business rules and calculation rules that govern policy administration.

The integration of the Vantage-One system with the VP/MS system means that Vantage-One clients now can use the combined system for product development and testing as well as for administering contracts that are already in production, CSC says.

CSC says it also hopes to release a Vantage-One extension that will help insurers add annuity features that will increase annuity holders' ability to draw on retirement assets while continuing to invest the remaining assets.
