Fallisi, the chief actuary at Cairnstone Inc., Andover, Mass., a manager of employer stop-loss insurer programs, plans to give the money to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and The Jimmy Fund, a Boston charity that helps research on strategies for fighting cancer.

Fallisi and his brother began their ride Thursday and hope to complete it June 12.

Cairnstone is one of the riders' primary sponsors.
