Christopher H. Brown grew up around the Pax World Balanced Fund. His father, Tony Brown, was the fund's original portfolio manager, and when Tony retired in 1998 after 17 years in the slot, the younger Brown stepped into his shoes.

A graduate of the Boston University School of Management with a concentration in finance, Chris Brown began his career as an investment consultant in 1987 with Fahnestock & Co., a New York Stock Exchange brokerage firm that is now part of Oppenheimer. He was named a first VP there before joining Pax World Management in 1998, when he also became a senior VP of H.G. Wellington & Co., the fund's distributor.
