CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, will be selling employee assistance program packages along with group life coverage.[@@]

Traditionally, most companies sold EAP packages on their own or together with group health plans. Today, some carriers are selling EAPs along with group insurance products other than group health insurance.

CIGNA began selling EAPs along with group long-term disability plans in August 2003.

The new EAP program for group life customers, the CIGNA Life Assistance program, will provide access to in-person counseling sessions, telephone-based counseling, and support services such as referrals to child care programs, senior care programs and substance abuse programs.
