TriCare Renews $2.6 Billion Dental Contract

The Department of Defense has renewed a huge voluntary dental benefit contract with United Concordia Inc.[@@]

United Concordia, a unit of Highmark Inc., Harrisburg, Pa., has been providing voluntary dental benefits for members of the Defense Department's TriCare benefits program since 1996.

The new, 5-year contract renewal serves 1.7 million program members around the world and has a value of about $2.6 billion, United Concordia says. A team of 240 United Concordia employees administers the TriCare voluntary dental program.

TriCare is a benefits program that serves relatives of active-duty military personnel, some active-duty military personnel and some reserve unit members and dependents.
