NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–P. Schoenfeld Asset Management LLC appointed Daniel Goldwater managing director and head of European operations, as of January 2005.

He is to manage the London office, where he will be responsible for an event-driven portfolio and lead the growth of business in Europe and Asia. The firm is a New York-headquartered multi-strategy adviser in the event-driven and credit opportunities areas, with US$925 million in assets.

Mr. Goldwater recently resigned from Goldman Sachs, where he was a managing director in the equities division in London.

He is no stranger to his new employer, however. Before his time at the bank, he was at Schroder & Co., where he came to know Peter Schoenfeld, now the chief executive of P. Schoenfeld Asset Management.

Mr. Schoenfeld said, in a statement, that Mr. Goldwater's relationships in key international markets would allow the firm to develop its non-U.S. investment capabilities.
