A Web site is recruiting U.S. residents who want to participate as plaintiffs in class-action lawsuits against insurers and insurance brokers.[@@]
"If you would like to be contacted by an insurance lawyer, please fill in one of the following forms," write the creators of the site, which is on the Web at http://www.bigclassaction.com
The site is singling out Marsh, a unit of Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc., New York, and UnumProvident Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn., as potential targets.
Marsh & McLennan gets top play "for allegedly steering clients to certain insurers in order to receive contingent fees," according to the site managers.
Second on the list are insurance companies in general. The site says the companies are potential defendants because of allegations that "leading insurance brokerage firms steered unsuspecting clients to insurers with whom they had lucrative payoff agreements, and that the firms solicited rigged bids for insurance contracts."
