AMHERST, Mass. (HedgeWorld.com)–The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association has chosen the French business school EDHEC to be the exclusive provider of CAIA preparatory courses in Europe. The courses help candidates for the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst certification prepare for the CAIA examinations.

The examination tests an individual's knowledge of concepts and practices that apply to the management of alternative vehicles such as hedge funds, private equity, real estate, commodities and managed futures.

As reported previously by HedgeWorld (see Story), the CAIA certification program has become increasingly popular. Since it was launched in 2002, more than 1,000 candidates have sought or have received certification. Candidates from more than 35 countries and some 300 financial institutions are pursuing the CAIA designation, and, according to a CAIA statement, the number of new registrants is doubling every six months.

EDHEC Business School is a leading provider of English-taught management courses in France, offering several masters-level programs. Faculty at the school conduct applied research in topics such as asset management, fixed-income securities, risk management and alternative investments.

EDHEC is providing preparatory instruction for those who will be taking the February 2005 CAIA examinations. The school will offer intensive review seminars in the United Kingdom, Switzerland and France, along with online courses and test preparation software. EDHEC also offers customized courses for institutions.
