The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, Brookfield, Wis., has canceled its 50th annual employee benefits conference because of worries about Hurricane Ivan.[@@]

The foundation had hoped to hold the conference Sept. 17-22 in New Orleans, but it says it decided to cancel the event to ensure the safety of the people traveling to the city for the conference.

Scheduled speakers had included Bradley Belt, executive director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., and Charlie Cook, a well-known Washington political analyst.

The foundation already is exploring the possibility of rescheduling the conference.
