Instinet Japan Hires President

TOKYO (HedgeWorld.com)–Instinet Japan Ltd. hired Takeshi Murakami as president and Tokyo branch manager of the electronic brokerage.

Mr. Murakami will help Instinet's Japan operation, an indirect subsidiary of Instinet Group Inc., New York, grow its business among institutional investors including hedge funds, pension funds, mutual funds and insurance companies, said Tony Mackay, chief executive of Instinet Japan.

"Murakami-san is an important addition to the company and his appointment will contribute to the continuing growth of our Japanese business," Mr. Mackay said.

Mr. Murakami previously worked as director of account pension management and client services at Schroder Investment Management (Japan) Ltd.
