A unit of American International Group Inc., New York, wants to give employers more information about group benefits medical underwriting.[@@]
AIG American General, Neptune, N.J., has set up a Medical Underwriting Tracking System that will send employers weekly status reports. The reports will tell employers whether the underwriters have approved an applicant, rejected an applicant or closed a case. The reports also will tell employers whether an application is still pending.
The new system will reduce the employer's workload by sending reminder letters and letters about individual pending and declined coverage status directly to the applicants' address instead of to the employer.
