NU Online News Service, March 17, 2004, 12:22 p.m. EST – Standard Insurance Company, Portland, Ore., is trying to add some humor to retirement plan participant education.[@@]

The company says it worked hard to make its new plan participant education program, "401(k) on the Brain," fun and entertaining.

The program includes brochures, participant worksheets and a PowerPoint presentation. Module topics include financial markets basics, investing basics, savings planning and retirement savings planning.

Standard will be adding more modules for specific demographic groups, such as women and people nearing retirement age, the company says.

Standard is a unit of StanCorp Financial Group Inc.
