NU Online News Service, March 8, 2004, 12:54 p.m. EST – Most workers say they go to work when they're sick.[@@]

Researchers at ComPsych Corp., Chicago, an employee assistance program company, base that conclusion on a survey of employees at more than 700 ComPsych EAP client employers.

A total of 77% of the participating employees reported going to work when sick.

The employees who reported going to work when sick gave the following reasons:

- 43% said their workload makes it too difficult to take off.

- 34% said they think it feels risky to take time off in the current work environment.

- 23% said they save their sick days for days when their children need them.
