Corporate Benefit Acquires Johnson Benefits

NU Online News Service, March 2, 2004, 2:03 p.m. EST – Corporate Benefit Services L.L.C., Brentwood, Tenn., is acquiring Johnson Benefits Group Inc., Nashville, Tenn., through a merger.[@@]

The price of the deal was not available.

The combined company will operate under the Corporate Benefit name, and it will keep both the Brentwood office and the Nashville office, Corporate Benefit says.

Corporate Benefit, a benefits consulting and brokerage firm, was founded in 2001 by Wayne Emery and John Maple.

John Benefits was founded in April 2003 by David Johnson. Before Johnson started the firm, he was a vice president for key accounts at the UnitedHealthcare unit of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn.
