NU Online News Service, Nov. 24, 2003, 5:47 p.m. EST – The retirement services unit at DST Systems Inc., Kansas City, Mo., has added a "voice print" screening feature to its TRAC recordkeeping system.[@@]

Plan participants can use the feature to get account information by speaking rather than by entering personal identification numbers.

The voice print system should be more convenient and more secure than a conventional PIN code system, DST says.

The first time participants call the system, the system will record their voice prints and store the prints in a secure database. The system will use the stored prints for verification later, when participants call to ask about their accounts, DST says.

The DST retirement services unit handles recordkeeping, administrative and communications technology and support for defined contribution retirement plans with 3.2 million participants.
