Magellan Hires Communications Chief

NU Online News Service, Nov. 10, 2003, 12:34 p.m. EST – Magellan Health Services Inc., Columbus, Md., has hired Christopher Cooney to be chief branding and communications officer.

Cooney will oversee advertising, public relations and communications for Magellan.

Magellan administers mental health care for one-quarter of all U.S. residents.

Cooney previously was president of CWC Consulting, Stamford, Conn., a marketing and communications consulting firm. He also has been a national vice president for corporate communications at the old managed care unit at what is now Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J., and he has been a cabinet secretary in the Office of the Governor of the State of New Jersey.

Cooney has a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University.
