When he was Mayor of New York, Ed Koch used to ask: "How am I doing?" If the question were put to the first ten funds to get the annual Excellence in Fund Management Awards from Standard & Poor's and BusinessWeek, the answer would be: Pretty darn good.

Since the awards were handed out in mid-March, seven of the funds have topped their peer groups, and one, Tweedy Browne Global Value Fund (TBGVX), tied similar offerings.

The performance of the ten funds over the long term is equally impressive. All beat their peers over the five years ended Sept. 30.

The awards recognize fund managers and management teams across different investment styles, who have proven histories of strong fund management anchored by track records of consistently sound returns.
