NU Online News Service, Oct. 2, 2003, 5:12 p.m. EDT – Working age Americans seem to accept more personal responsibility for their retirement finances than current retirees do, according to survey results released by the Million Dollar Round Table, Park Ridge, Ill.

When the producer group surveyed 1,000 U.S. residents, it found that only 58% of the current retirees sees themselves as being most responsible for their retirement, compared with 73% of the workers.

Seventy-seven percent of the retirees have confidence in Social Security, and 31% of the retirees have confidence in 401(k) plans.

Workers view retirement vehicles differently.

Sixty-six percent of the workers have confidence in 401(k) plans, but only 43% trust Social Security.
