NU Online News Service, Sept. 29, 2003, 3:47 p.m. EDT – AFLAC Inc., Columbus, Ga., says it is splitting responsibility for U.S. sales and marketing in an effort to improve U.S. sales.

Joseph Kuchenmeister has been director of sales and marketing for AFLAC U.S.

Kuchenmeister will still be U.S. marketing director, but Bradley Jones will take over as sales director for AFLAC U.S.

Jones has been vice president of AFLAC's territory in the Northeastern United States since 2000.

A new stand-alone medical insurance program helped AFLAC increase third-quarter sales revenue in Japan by more than 15% in local currency, AFLAC says.

Despite the popularity of the AFLAC Duck, sales in the United States have been flat, but performance in some states has been much stronger than in others, AFLAC says.
