NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–For the first time in its 10-year history, MAR's annual hedge fund conference won't be in Bermuda.

Damage to the Fairmont Southampton Hotel, caused when Hurricane Fabian tore across the island Sept. 5, won't be repaired in time for the resort to host the conference this year, said Greg Newton, president of Managed Account Reports LLC, in a news release. The conference originally was scheduled for Sept. 7 through Sept. 9.

Instead, the conference will be held Nov. 19 through Nov. 21 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Miami.

MAR officials are contacting scheduled speakers to find out if they will be available, Mr. Newton said, but added he knew some delegates would not be able to attend the rescheduled and relocated conference because of schedule conflicts.

"The vast majority of people we have spoken with so far have indicated their intention to come to Miami," Mr. Newton said.

MAR will be sending out more information to sponsors, delegates and exhibitors in the coming days, Mr. Newton said.
