RMF Seeds Japanese Fund

PF?FFIKON, Switzerland (HedgeWorld.com)–RMF Investment Management seeded its seventh emerging hedge fund through its seeding vehicle, Hedge Fund Ventures.

The newly seeded fund is a Japanese event-driven fund managed by Stone Harbor Advisors LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii. Stone Harbor will use merger arbitrage, distressed securities investing, tactical trading and relative value strategies for the new fund, according to a statement from RMF. Mitchell B. Porten is Stone Harbor's principal and investment manager.

RMF officials are anticipating a sizable launch for the fund but declined to provide specifics. Hedge Fund Ventures has assets of about US$500 million.

Hedge Fund Ventures invests in fund startups in return for an equity stake or share of the revenue of the underlying management company. Earlier this month, RMF had added the Coromandel Trend Fund managed by Paul Firkins to its seeding fund Previous HedgeWorld Story.

Previously added to the Hedge Fund Ventures fund were: Westbury European Hedge Fund Ltd.; Brookville Capital LP, a U.S. distressed and special situations fund; Catalina Capital Ltd., a European relative value fund; Arlington Hill Debt Strategies Ltd., a global macro fund; and Drake Global Opportunities Fund Ltd., a U.S. relative value and global macro fund.

RMF is owned by Man Group plc.*
