NU Online News Service, April 23, 2003, 5:40 p.m. EDT – WellPoint Health Networks Inc., Thousand Oaks, Calif., is reporting $193 million in net income for the first quarter on $4.8 billion in revenue, up from $141 million in net income on $3.9 billion in revenue for the first quarter of 2002.
The managed care company ended the quarter providing or administering major medical coverage for 13 million people, up 4.6% from the number it covered a year earlier.
