NU Online News Service, March 10, 2003, 3:03 p.m. EST – URAC, Washington, a managed care standards group, has released a draft set of HIPAA Security Accreditation standards for public comment.
URAC is developing the accreditation program to give health care organizations a way to show that they are complying with the new federal health information security rule.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services came up with the security rule to implement the health information security provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
