Use Of Web Enrollment Levels Off

NU Online News Service, Feb. 5, 10:52 a.m. – Large employers' use of Web-based benefits enrollment systems is starting to level off, according to figures from Hewitt Associates Inc., Lincolnshire, Ill.

The benefits consulting firm reports that 70% of the employees at its client companies enrolled in benefits plans through the Web in 2002. The percentage was the same in 2001.

The percentage of employees who used call centers increased to 23%, from 22%, and the percentage who used automated, telephone-based systems held steady at 8%.

Hewitt also found that 26% of retirees enrolled through the Web and that 21% of Hewitt clients have persuaded more than 90% of their employees to enroll online.
