NU Online News Service, Jan. 22, 6:25 p.m. – The Utah Senate is considering S.B. 80, a bill that would give residents who have individual health coverage or disability insurance the same appeal rights that members of group health plans already have.
Residents affected by "adverse benefit determinations" would be able to ask issuers of individual health coverage and disability coverage for internal reviews. The reviews would have to meet the standards for internal reviews set by Utah insurance regulators, according to the bill text.
Residents unhappy with the results of the internal reviews could ask for independent reviews.
