Cobalt Cuts Ties To American Medical

NU Online News Service, Jan. 6, 5:04 p.m. – Cobalt Corp., Milwaukee, has cut its last major business ties to American Medical Security Group Inc., Green Bay, Wis.

Cobalt is the parent company of Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin, and American Medical is a small-group health insurer spun off from Wisconsin Blue in 1998.

Cobalt had owned a large stake in American Medical, but Cobalt completed previously announced plans to sell the stake Jan. 3. In related news, Kenneth Evason, Cobalt's representative on the American Medical board, has resigned from the American Medical board.
