NU Online News Service, Jan. 3, 2:04 p.m. – WellChoice Inc., New York, says David Snow Jr., its president and chief operating officer, has resigned to pursue other interests.

Snow has been the company's chief operating officer since 1999. Michael Stocker, the company's chairman, will now add the title of president and take over Snow's duties, WellChoice says.

WellChoice, formerly known as Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, recently converted to for-profit status and sold stock to investors through a public offering.

Details about why Snow resigned were not immediately available.
