John W. Rogers, Jr. is founder, chairman, CEO, and chief investment officer of Ariel Capital Management, Inc., based in Chicago. He founded the firm in 1982. Mr. Rogers manages Ariel's small- and mid-cap institutional portfolios as well as Ariel Fund and Ariel Appreciation Fund. He serves on a number of civic boards and received an A.B. in economics from Princeton University in 1980.

Timothy Fidler, VP and assistant portfolio manager, joined Ariel in October 1999 and oversees Ariel's research efforts. He works directly with Rogers in the research and portfolio management process for both the firm's small- and mid-cap institutional and mutual fund portfolios. Mr. Fidler graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in economics. He also earned an MBA from The University of Chicago.
