FIIA Resolves To Merge With BSA

NU Online News Service, Oct. 28 ? The board of directors of the Financial Institutions Insurance Association yesterday passed a final resolution affirming the association's merger with the Bank Securities Association, Wayne, Pa., during FIIA's final fall conference in Chicago.

"It's critical to include risk management analysis when speaking to customers about securities," said John Porter, a vice president of BSA, in speaking to FIIA members today. "This is the exact time in history to combine securities and insurance."

Porter is chairman and CEO of SouthTrust Securities Inc., a subsidiary of SouthTrust Bank, Inc., Birmingham, Ala.
