Torchmark Reports 9% Increase In Income

NU Online News Service, Oct. 22, 12:10 p.m. – Torchmark Corporation, Birmingham, Ala., today reported net income of $117 million for the third quarter on $699 million in revenue, up almost 9% from $104 million on $678 million for the same period last year.

Operating income rose to $106 million, from $102 million a year ago.

The company's total premiums for the quarter increased 2%, from $554 million in the third quarter of 2001 to $568 million.
