NU Online News Service, Oct. 10, 10:25 a.m. – Aetna Inc., Hartford, has agreed to offer its major medical subscribers the CareEngine service from ActiveHealth Management Inc., New York.

Managers of the program analyze medical claim, laboratory and pharmacy data from plan sponsors to identify potential medical errors and opportunities for improving care.

The managers then generate a list of suggestions for improving patient care and talk to the patients' doctors about the suggestions.

Aetna is introducing the program this month and hopes to start by using it to influence care for 250,000 plan members.
