Senate Committee Schedules Money-Laundering Hearing

NU Online News Service, Oct. 2, 10:51 a.m. – The U.S. Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing at 9:30 a.m. Thursday on the Bush administration's strategy for fighting money-laundering.

The witness list includes Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa; Kenneth Dam, deputy secretary of the Treasury; Larry Thompson, a deputy attorney general; Stuart Eizenstat, a partner at Covington and Burling, Washington; Alvin James, a principal at Ernst and Young L.L.P., New York; and Elisse Walter, the executive vice president for regulatory policy at the National Association of Securities Dealers, New York.

The committee has not yet said whether, or when, it will post a video record of the conference on the Web, but the committee posts links to video of some conference proceedings at http://banking.senate.gov/vid_arch.htm
