Granum Wins NAIFAs Russell Award

By

Charlotte, N.C.

O. Alfred Granum, creator of the One Card System, is the winner of the 2002 John Newton Russell award.

The award is given to a living individual who has gone "above and beyond the call of duty" in making outstanding contributions to the life insurance business.

"We have had many industry giants who have been awarded with the John Newton Russell award that have made major contributions to the industry, but never one that had more impact for agents and advisors than tonights recipient," said Larry Lambert, chairman of the JNR award selection committee, in announcing the award.

After serving in the Navy during World War II, Granum joined Northwestern Mutual, where he earned his Chartered Life Underwriter designation.

He served as general agent of Northwestern Mutuals Chicago agency, and succeeded in building that agency to be number one in the world for median agent production for more than 20 years.

During his tenure, Granum developed the "One Card System," which gives sales professionals the ability to effectively regulate and monitor their activity, while providing a continuous supply of prospects to call on.

"The One Card System has, without question, spelled the difference between success and failure for many of the producers you have motivated," said Lambert.

The One Card System, launched in 1969, is now available in several different languages. It is published by The National Underwriter Company. For more information visit, www.nationalunderwriter.com.
