NU Online News Service, Aug. 5, 12:10 p.m. – AdvancePCS Inc., Irving, Texas, a pharmacy benefit manager, has set up a new program, AdvanceGenerics, to control drug costs by persuading more patients to use generic drugs.
The program will encourage doctors to give patients vouchers that patients can use to try generic drugs for free or for a very low cost.
The program will also encourage pharmacists to call patients' doctors to ask about the possibility of switching patients to affordable generic drugs from more expensive prescription drugs.
