NU Online News Service, July 18, 10:15 a.m. – UnumProvident Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn., says it expects to report at least $55 million in investment losses for the second quarter due to write-downs of investments in companies such as WorldCom Inc., Clinton, Miss.; TeleGlobe Inc. Montreal; and Adelphia Communications, Dover Township, N.J.
The second-quarter write-downs come on top of $77 million in investment losses reported for the first quarter.
