NU Online News Service, July 15, 10:30 a.m. – Occupancy rates for assisted-living properties show signs of leveling off, according to first quarter 2002 figures released today by the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industries, Annapolis, Md.

Of more than 3,200 properties for all seniors housing sectors–representing a total of 340,000 units–reporting occupancy rates, 1,380 were assisted living properties, NIC says.

Assisted living occupancy rates in both the median (83%) and the mean (84%) stayed approximately the same as the last quarter of 2001, NIC says.

In skilled nursing, the median stayed at 85%, although the mean or average occupancy rate went down a point to 82.5%, NIC says.
