NU Online News Service, May 22, 12:45 p.m. – The American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, says it will oppose Russia's efforts to join the World Trade Organization unless Russia guarantees market access to foreign life insurance companies.

Russia has done less to open its life market to foreign competition than China has, ACLI says.

ACLI argues that opening the Russian life market to full foreign competition would help Russian consumers by strengthening Russia's credit markets and improving the overall quality of Russian financial services products.
