The help desk will answer individual and institutional investors' questions about the company.
Investors with questions can call 212-770-6580 for information during normal business hours.
"In the current environment, rumor, innuendo and other misinformation circulated by various sources can generate unwarranted concerns," AIG Chairman M.R. Greenberg says in a statement about the new investor relations initiatives. "We want to ensure that all of our investors have ready access to reliable information about our company."
