NU Online News Service, May 13, 2:55 p.m. – The Bank Securities Association, Wayne, Pa. has postponed a symposium it had scheduled in Washington in June to discuss regulatory and legislative issues affecting the industry.

BSA says it was necessary to postpone the meeting because of the May 8 decision by the Securities and Exchange Commission to temporarily exempt banks from its definition of "dealer" until Nov. 12, and to temporarily exempt banks from its definition of "broker" until May 12, 2003.

In place of the symposium this year, BSA says it expects to hold a legislative and regulatory teleconference to discuss recent developments. Anyone interested in participating in the teleconference can contact the group at [email protected]

Details on the upcoming teleconference will be e-mailed to anyone interested in participating, BSA says.
