NU Online News Service, Feb. 19, 2:47 p.m. – MetLife Inc., New York, says Jim Benson will be the new chairman, president and chief executive of GenAmerica Financial Corp., St. Louis, a major reinsurance affiliate.

Benson is the chairman of MetLife's New England Financial affiliate and president of its Individual Business unit.

Benson is succeeding Kevin Eichner as president and chief executive, and Richard Liddy as chairman.

Eichner, who became GenAmerica's executive vice president in 1997 and took over as president in 1999, is resigning to pursue his other business interests, such as running a banking company he founded in 1988, MetLife says.

MetLife is praising Eichner for his success at helping GenAmerica overcome a liquidity crisis it suffered in 1999.

In related news, MetLife has named Dick Miller executive vice president and chief marketing officer of GenAmerica. Miller is also president of Walnut Street Securities Inc., GenAmerica's broker-dealer subsidiary.
