Transamerica Worksite Hires Four Marketing VPs

NU Online News Service, Jan. 4, 1:11 p.m. – Transamerica Worksite Marketing, Los Angeles, has hired four new marketing executives: Phil McKelvey, Wayne Mertel, Ken Holderbaum and Deborah Tatro.

McKelvey, now vice president of national alliances, will be responsible for working with Anthem Inc., Indianapolis, a large, multistate Blue Cross and Blue Shield company.

Previously, McKelvey was chief marketing officer at Loyal American Life, Cincinnati. He is a member of the board of the National Association of Professional Enrollment Specialists Inc., Twinsburg, Ohio, a worksite marketing trade group.

Mertel, the regional vice president for the Midwestern Region, will be based in the Kansas City, Mo., area.

Mertel was responsible for developing alliances between American Worksite Marketing Group, Kansas City, and its key insurance carriers and distributors. Mertel also has extensive experience in sales of Section 125 Cafeteria Plan administrative services. Like McKelvey, he is a member of the board of the National Association of Professional Enrollment Specialists..

Holderbaum is the new regional vice president in Nevada. Holderbaum will also handle distributors in California, Guam and Hawaii.

In the past, Holderbaum was a regional sales manager at American Fidelity Assurance Company, Oklahoma City, Okla. He has 25 years of experience in insurance, including 10 as a property-casualty agent. He is a member of the board of the Mass Marketing Insurance Institute, Kansas City, Mo.

Tatro is the new regional vice president in the Western United States. She will work with distributors in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Alaska, Montana and Wyoming, and some in California.

Tatro has spent three years at an affiliate of MetLife Inc., New York, and 15 years at Transamerica Assurance Company in the 1980s and 1990s. She is a past president of the Mass Marketing Insurance Institute and a member of the National Association of Professional Enrollment Specialists advisory board.
