Hartford Adds Unilever Executive To Board

NU Online News Service, Nov. 29, 10:09 a.m. – The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, Conn., has built a bridge to the Dutch business community by electing Charles Strauss to its board.

Strauss is president of the U.S. operations of Unilever N.V., Rotterdam, The Netherlands, a major manufacturer of consumer goods ranging from Lipton tea to Q-tips cotton swabs.

Strauss was chosen in part for his expertise in global brand marketing, according to Ramani Ayer, chairman of The Hartford.

U.S. insurers that have agreed to acquisitions by Dutch insurers in recent years include Transamerica, ReliaStar Financial Corp., and Aetna Financial Services.
