NU Online News Service, Nov. 7, 2:16 p.m. – AmerUs Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, is reporting $21 million in net income for the third quarter on $347 million in revenue, up from $11 million in net income on $269 million in revenue for the third quarter of 2000.
Earnings are up partly because AmerUs completed the acquisition of Indianapolis Life Insurance Company in the second quarter, AmerUs says.
Premium revenue from the sale of new annuities has increased 12% from new annuity sales revenue for the third quarter of 2000, to $441 million, and revenue from sales of new life insurance has increased 155%, to $22 million, the company says.
