NU Online News Service, Oct. 23, 10:08 a.m. – UPMC Health Plan, Pittsburgh, has agreed to rent access to the SuperMed Plus provider network from Medical Mutual of Ohio, Cleveland.

Some employers in the Pittsburgh area that buy health coverage from UPMC have employees who live in Ohio. The SuperMed agreement means that Ohio residents enrolled in UPMC group plans will now be able to get medical care in Ohio at in-network rates.

UPMC is also hiring a Medical Mutual subsidiary, Antares Management Solutions, Westlake, Ohio, to handle all of its national claims processing and customer service operations. Medical Mutual estimates Antares will process $50 million in claims annually for UPMC.

Antares also will manage UPMC's national preferred provider organizations relationships, membership services and claims repricing, Medical Mutual says.
