NU Online News Service, Sept. 17, 1:15 p.m. – The Insurance Department of New York has reopened its offices in the financial district of New York, says Superintendent Gregory V. Serio. The offices were closed last week in the wake of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Since the incident, the department has operated from its midtown offices.
In addition to the offices in Albany and New York, the department has established insurance consumer outreach centers to provide direct contact with department personnel to those impacted by the disaster. Department staff will be available to answer questions regarding claims, procedures and all disaster-related insurance questions. The satellite offices will be open from 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
