Robert Nelson, CLU, LUTCF, vice president of the life and estate planning division of Grace/Mayer Insurance of Omaha, Neb., was elected president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors during its 112th annual convention in Salt Lake City last week.

Nelson is a past president of the Nebraska State Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and the Omaha Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He is a qualifying and life member of the Million Dollar Round Table, a member of the Omaha Estate Planning Financial Consultants and a former CLU instructor on "Planning for the Business Owner and the Professional."

In 1991, Nelson received the OAIFA's "Agent of the Year Award." He is also a charter member of the Association of Health Insurance Advisors.

Throughout his tenure in the insurance and financial planning industry Nelson has given numerous testimonies to regulators and other audiences in order to raise awareness of the value-added role of today's agent.

Addressing 2,600 attendees at the convention, Nelson said NAIFA's strategy for future success is firmly in place. "It's now time for everyone to get on board and effectively implement our game plan and mission. Let's let go of the baggage of the past and take this organization to the next level."
