NU Online News Service, Sept. 10, 4:05 p.m. – Unisys Corp., Blue Bell, Pa., says many banks are doing a terrible job at using the Internet to market their services.

Insurance technology experts tend to point to bank sites as role models for insurance Web developers, but Unisys was unable to find any Web site at all for 94 of the world's 400 biggest banks, according to a report on the Unisys study that appeared in Computerworld.

Another 164 banks failed to provide e-mail addresses or other contact information on their sites, and 64 that did provide e-mail addresses failed to respond when Unisys researchers sent them messages asking for help with opening accounts.

Many of the banks that did reply did little more than acknowledge that they had received the messages, Unisys found.
